Healthy printing inks for bottle labels

Brewing group Carlsberg has rolled out healthy printing inks for the labels of their core brand Carlsberg globally. Printing inks can be a hotspot for problematic substances that prevent the labels from being recycled in the paper cycle. The newly developed Greener Green ink meets the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ standard at Silver Level. This ambitious goal was started through intensive cooperation and development work with the ink manufacturer hubergroup and the Töpfer printing company under the scientific supervision of EPEA.

Carlsberg’s Sustainability Director Simon Boas Hoffmeyer confirms that innovations like the Greener Green ink are only achievable through collaborative action:

“Only extensive partnerships can create a virtuous circle of improvements within business and among suppliers and business partners. Carlsberg can’t do it alone, so the knowledge of our partners is incredibly important for us to reach our targets.”
