C2C Certified™ version 4.0

Compared to the previous version 3.1, the new standard represents an evolution of the requirements for products that enable a safe and circular future. EPEA as leading C2C assesor accompanies customers through the entire certification process.”

What's new in version 4.0?

Cradle to Cradle Certified™ version 4.0 offers new and expanded requirements across all performance categories, including:

  • New framework conditions for product circularity and social fairness
  • Stricter requirements for clean air and climate protection, which are essential to combat climate change
  • Expanded requirements for water and soil protection so that clean water and healthy soils are available to humans and other organisms
  • Improved linkage of material health requirements with leading chemical regulations and other standards, including a new list of restricted substances

For a complete overview of the new requirements Please follow the link. The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute will accept new applications to certify products in accordance with version 4.0 from July 2021.

Are you already certified according to version 3.1?

For products that are currently certified in accordance with version 3.1, you can apply for certification in accordance with version 4.0 from July 1, 2021. From June 30, 2024, they will be required to certify in accordance with version 4.0. Applications and assessment summary forms for version 3.1 certification will be accepted by April 1, 2022. EPEA supports you regarding the individual effects of the new certification standard on your product.
